5 Accessorizing Tips for Women over 40
"There is nothing more beautiful than a confident woman."
Let's face it - how we dress changes as we get older. And I don't know about you, but this child of the 80s thinks it's a great thing that my style has changed! (Think neon headbands and rubber bracelets a la Madonna videos 😣)
As we get older, we know where we stand on things and have a confidence that we may not have had when we were younger. We may have birthed and raised children, have a thriving career, and survived some of life's battles. These things make us even more beautiful.
Great style is possible no matter how old we are, but there are some things to consider so that we don't look like we've given up or that we're trying to look like 20 year olds 😏
Accessories can be a woman's best friend when it comes to great style. Here are some tips to get it right at any age.
1. Follow the trends, but adjust them to fit your style.
Love the velvet trend? Instead of buying that velvet jacket, go for some booties or a handbag with a touch of velvet. Do you prefer a more relaxed style and tend to wear the same jewelry every day? Get out of your comfort zone a bit and make sure that you are updating your accessories every now and then. Don't feel pressure to follow all of the trends. But, don't be afraid to try something new!
2. Consider your wardrobe when shopping for accessories.
Do you love patterns, prints and items with detail? Then choose a solid colored scarf or more simple necklaces so they don't compete with your clothes. The Hannah Necklace and the Adrienne Necklace add the perfect finishing touch for these styles. Prefer neutral and solid colored tops? Then go for some bold accessories to liven up your outfit. The Ava Necklace & Earrings Set adds an elegant touch to any outfit or make a statement with the Alexandra Necklace & Earrings Set. (Get 10% off when you purchase the set!)
3. Don't forget the belt!
Belts are very fashionable right now. They break the transition between your top and bottom and help to define the figure. Want to define your curves, but hide waist imperfections? Wear it under a jacket or cardigan. And gone are the days when your belt had to match your shoes. In fact, belts work great when they stand out and draw attention to the smallest part of your figure.
4. Choose one main focus piece.
If your printed jacket is the focal point of your outfit, then choose an interesting shoe and simple earrings and leave it at that. This is not the time to pile on a scarf, hat, and statement necklace. You want to wear the outfit, you don't want the outfit to "wear you"! Check out the Paige Earrings or Chloe Earrings to finish off your outfit perfectly.
5. Don't be afraid!
Many women under-accessorize. They feel comfortable with small pieces that they wear every day. Accessories can dramatically change the look of our wardrobe staples and add fun to our style. Don't be afraid to add that pop of color, layer two necklaces together, or wear that cool hat. Knowing that we have a stylish outfit that makes us look great gives us confidence.
Do you remember the ad back in the day that said, "You've come a long way, baby!"? Well, we have indeed! Make sure that your style reflects the strong, amazing woman that you are ❤️
