Tony's Story
Tony was in a traffic accident quite a few years ago and his leg was badly injured. After many years of chronic pain and surgeries, his leg was amputated. Not having the resources to have regular meals or afford a place to live, Tony went to Our Daily Bread in Denton to receive nourishing meals and a mailing address. He credits Our Daily Bread as central to his healing. In his own words, Tony says, "Good food is the best medicine. Because I could get mail delivered here and get good meals, I have been able to have a more stable life."
Two simple, basic things like mail delivery and nutrition have helped restore a broken life.
Our Daily Bread is more than just a soup kitchen. They offer free, nutritious meals for the hungry 7 times a week plus a weekend snack-pack program. People in need can receive free bus passes, laundry vouchers, monthly haircuts, free computer use for job searches, a mailing address to help them secure a job, on-site representatives from various social services, and so much more.
I am so proud to give 10% of the sales proceeds for the month of August to Our Daily Bread. Having volunteered there myself, I saw firsthand the love and dedication that is put into this ministry.
